In 2022, the air will be filled with electricity. The Tesla Cybertruck, Ford F-150 Lightning, and GMC Hummer EV are three of the most eagerly awaited electric vehicles ever to hit the market. Many automakers — both new and old — are expected to introduce their first electric vehicles in 2022. The Mazda MX-30 and the environmentally-conscious Fisker Ocean SUV will arrive in the new year. The Lucid Air’s supercharged version will eventually be available at a lower price point. Know the courses on electric vehicles here.

Demand for electric vehicles is expected to rise even further in 2022 if the previous year’s record-breaking sales of EVs are any indication. It appears that a thrilling 2022 is already locked in, EV-wise, even though we’ve already learnt to temper our sky-high expectations for the new year. Here’s a brief look at what’s in store for the next 12 months.

Lucid Air Pure

There will soon be a less expensive Lucid Air. But it’s all about perspective. When we say “cheap,” we mean that the Pure EV isn’t $169,000 as expensive as the first Dream Editions. Even if it’s a more basic model, the battery still has a range of nearly 400 miles on a single charge. Although it isn’t quite 519 miles of range, it’s still longer than Tesla’s longest-range model.

Tesla Cybertruck

Electric pickup trucks with Tesla’s apocalyptic vision have been on the drawing board for a long time. Even though it was first announced in 2019, no work has begun on it. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has said that a quad-motor version of the vehicle will be available by the end of 2017. Tesla’s website used to display configuration and pricing information, but that information was deleted in October.

Ford F-150 Lightning

There is still a toss-up between Tesla and Ford when it comes to electric pickup dominance, but Ford has a big advantage: their entry is the best-selling automobile in the United States without a battery. A large power frunk in the place of the engine and the ability to tow up to 10,000 pounds make it an electric beast. It’s also expected to come before Tesla’s first electric pickup truck.

Fisker Ocean

A “sustainable” EV, Fisker’s first vehicle will be made from recycled plastic and feature a solar roof to generate additional power. With a rotating dashboard, karaoke, a California mode that opens all the windows, and a “California mode,” it’ll be a true West Coast SUV.

GMC Hummer EV

According to GMC, the first electric Hummer will be released towards the end of 2021. However, the bulk of the vehicles will arrive in 2022 at the earliest. First, the most expensive version will be available, followed by lower-cost options. By the end of 2023, a more modestly equipped electric SUV should be available.

Hyundai Ionic 5

Ioniq, Hyundai’s upcoming series of electric vehicles, will begin with the 5. Fast charging and a 0-60 mph time in under five seconds distinguish this little SUV from the competition. It is also capable of charging other Ioniqs in the other direction. It won’t arrive till the more expensive models have arrived in the US. Check out the best courses for electrical engineers.
